LGBT alumni facts and triviaWho confronted the Republican Presidential candidates on their opposition to gays serving openly in the military in a live televised debate? His name is Keith Kerr, a Cal alum and retired Brigadier General with 43 years of military service who shook the boat in 2007 at the Republican Presidential debate. Kerr listed his extensive military credentials then left the crowd silent by saying that he is "an openly gay man" and wants to know why gays can't serve in the military. Kerr then pressed the candidates who had side-stepped the question while a crowd of bigots booed him. Follow this link to watch the clip.
