Welcome to our first newsletter. The new board has been very busy over the past months to re-build UC Berkeley's LGBT Alumni Association. This newsletter aims to update you about what is happening in UC Berkeley's LGBT community as well as notify you about upcoming events. We are planning our first Cal Alumni Pride Happy Hour during Big Game Week, so make sure to watch out for future updates

California Alumni Association Job Shadow Day

The Alumni Scholars Association would like to give alumni the opportunity to interact with and direct UC Berkeley students through a Job Shadow Day. The Job Shadow Day allows students to experience the working world firsthand, discuss integral steps in developing a future career, and interact with successful alumni!

Take a Student to Eat (TASTE)

With the start of a new semester, Take a Student to Eat (TASTE) is planning to help UC Berkeley students explore different professions. TASTE is a program that pairs alumni and Alumni Scholars according to career interest, major interest, and even food interest! In order to help students decide and understand different career paths, we would like your help and guidance by chatting with our students as you enjoy some delicious food.

Cal Alumna Therese Stewart receives prestigious award

Therese Stewart, a graduate from the University of California Berkeley School of Law and San Francisco's current Chief Deputy City Attorney, has been named the recipient of the National Lesbian and Gay Law Association's 2008 Dan Bradley Award, the association highest honor. She shares this great honor with Shannon Minter, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights. Both successfully fought to overturn California's ban on same-sex marriage.

The Alumni Associations of the University of California and San Francisco Opera invite you to The Elixir of Love. San Francisco Opera is pleased to offer UC alumni 30% off regular ticket prices.
