Cal Alumni Pride, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) alumni club of the University of California, Berkeley supports and promotes the interests of the University of California and its alumni, with an emphasis on issues and interests specific to the LGBT community. A Message from the Cal Alumni Pride BoardDear Cal Alumni Pride Member, In this months issue we introduce you to three Cal alumni who are leading the legal challenge to overturn Prop 8 -- one will no doubt surprise you. We're now bi-coastal and couldn't be happier about the new Cal Alumni Pride DC Chapter. Please spread the word. We're partnering with a number of Bay Area organizations to raise funds for the relief effort in Haiti and we're hosting an LGBT family planning event with Cal alum and attorney Roger Gross. Go Bears! Your Cal Alumni Pride Board Three Cal Alumni Challenge Prop 8 in Federal CourtTed Olson, Therese Stewart, and Theodore Uno all have at least two things in common; they're all Cal alumni and they're all at the forefront of the battle for marriage equality as the attorney's representing the two couples who are challenging Prop 8 in federal court. Learn more about this all star legal team that includes a conservative Republican constitutional law expert who has served under Reagan and Bush. CAA Selects Cal Alumni Pride as Alumni Club of the YearWe hope you'll join us on April 24 at San Francisco's historic Ferry Building for Charter Gala 2010, Cal Alumni Association's signature event where Cal Alumni Pride will be recognized as the alumni club of the year. Fundraiser for Haiti Earthquake VictimsThe earthquake that rocked Haiti a little over a week ago has left hundreds of thousands of survivors in need of medical attention, food, water, and refuge. Please join Cal Alumni Pride and the many Bay Area organizations who are co-sponsors at Infusion Lounge on January 28 for an evening to benefit Doctors Without Borders and the Rainbow Relief Fund. LGBT Family Planning in the Wake of Prop 8We're hosting an evening dedicated to educating the LGBT community on the importance of family and estate planning in the wake of Prop 8. Join us on January 27 to hear from Cal alum Roger Gross, a local attornery with expertise in LGBT family planning.
